Happenings at the Parish.

First Friday Adoration

Every First Friday of the month, St. Ambrose hosts Eucharistic Adoration from 8:30am (after mass) until 11:15am with Benediction. Please come join in prayer for our vocations to religious life.

Prayer Services

Every 2nd Thursday of the month, Mother of Perpetual Help Devotions and the Rosary are said at 6:00pm.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, Ultreya is held at 9:00am, where there is prayer time, witness talk, and sharing time.

Father Kelly is pastor here at St. Ambrose, as well as at Guardian Angel in Oran, MO (where he resides) and is available for contact at 573-262-3210.

​​Daughter’s Meeting
November 19, 2020
            President, Linda Yarbro called the meeting to order and Fr. Kelly led all in prayer.
            Minutes were read & approved.
            Treasurer’s Report: Checks were written for Fr. Kelly birthday, and Parish and Diocesan CCW dues. Deposited money from dumplings. Ending balance $3,939.24.
OLD BUSINESS:
            Bereavement Meals: Jim Chambers bereavement was held at the Elks, Circle 7 provided cakes and 2 ladies helped serve the meal. Bereavement meals cannot be held in the gym at this time, Daughters will provide food for 25-30 people and take it to the home. Next bereavement will be Circle 8.
            No prayer shawls were given out.
            10-10 Club tickets are available in back of church. Please pick yours up and return as soon as possible. Drawing from these tickets will begin on January 1, 2021.
            Regional CCW meeting for November 17 was cancelled.
            Euchre Tournaments will not be held at this time.
Changes proposed for By-Laws (2nd reading)
            Changes proposed:
Organization shall be known as “Daughter’s of St. Ambrose” in affiliation with Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
This constitution may be amended at any meeting by a 2/3 vote of members present, provided the proposed change has been read at 2 previous meetings.
Meetings shall be held on 3rd Thursday of each month except June, July and August.
Article 2: Members of organization and their spouse shall receive 1 Mass at the time of their death. Any other member of the parish shall receive 1 Mass at time of death. Bereavement meals will be served to families of each member of the St. Ambrose Parish if the funeral takes place in Chaffee. Assistance with bereavement meals will be offered to the church affiliation of a parish member’s non-Catholic spouse at the time of his/her death.
Article 3: Each Circle will work assigned turns in relation to bereavement dinners, monthly meeting entertainment committees, bake sales and Christmas party/program.
Article 4: Officers (President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer) shall be elected at the April meeting and will take office in September. Upon completion of said term, Past-President can serve in any of the above offices, except President.
Article 5:
If necessary, the President shall appoint chairpersons of standing committees and circles.
The Rewriting and Amending of By-Laws was passed.
            The Daughters will not have their Christmas Party this year. Please continue to pray for your same prayer partner.
NEW BUSINESS:
            Will be collecting kids hats & gloves again. These can be placed in the bag in back of church until Dec. 14th.
            Daughters will do Christmas Baskets for the shut-ins on Friday, December 18th at 12noon.
            Monetary Christmas gifts will be given to: Fr. Kelly, Fr. Mark, our Seminarian and Alvin Vandeven.
            If the Scott City KC’s have their Valentine Dance, the Daughters will donate a $25 to $30 Gift.
FATHER’S REPORT
            Missalettes for 2021 will be available for pickup the weekend of Nov. 28-29. We ask that you keep your own missal and bring it to Mass each week to use for the entire year.
            Masses for the Holy Day, December 8th, will be Vigil Mass at Oran at 6pm and Mass on Holy Day at 8am at Oran and 6pm at Chaffee.  Masses for Christmas will be: Christmas Eve at 4pm at Chaffee and 11pm at Oran, Christmas Day at 8am at Chaffee and 10am at Oran.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
            Next meeting will be March 18, 2021. Items for discussion will include: Bake Sale, Reception for those coming into Church at Easter, Annual Church Cleaning.
            Room Count was 8.
            Meeting adjourned and closed with prayer.

November 19, 2020
Parish Council Minutes
 
Members Present: Brenda Miller, Richard Graviett, David Enderle, Father Kelly and Diane Eftink.
 
Opening Prayer was led by Father Kelly.
 
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes by Brenda Miller, seconded by Richard Graviett. Motion Carried.
 
School Report:
  1. Spiritual – Meals on Wheels, Birthright clothes, Angel Food Gift Cards, First Reconciliation (Wednesday, December 9th at 6:30 P.M.), monthly prayer services, First Friday Adoration.
  2. Buildings & Grounds – all looks nice and upkeep has been minimal changes.
  3. Long Range Planning – Following health department guidelines for COVID.
  4. Home & School – Dinner Auction did well, all things considered.
  5. Christmas program will be Wednesday, December 9th for Pre-K-2 following First Reconciliation and Thursday, December 10th for 3rd-8th Grade following Prayer Service.
  6. Student of the Month -October was Elizabeth Smith.
 
PSR- All is continuing to go well.
 
Youth – There is a purified event to be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at Jackson, Missouri on November 30th beginning at 7:00 P.M. for ages 13+ and their parents. Speaker will be Jason Evert.
 
Maintenance – Richard Graviett advised that he talked to Chris Schaefer about the problem in the restroom. Richard Graveitt is checking all pews.
 
Cemeteries- Richard Graviett talked to Dale Tenkhoff about mowing the cemeteries. $2,700.00 is presently being paid to mow the St. Ambrose cemerery and does not include the St. Edwards cemetery at Dutchtown. Mr. Graviett asked what the parish needed to pay for both cemeteries. Discussion was then heard.
 
Social – Men’s Club will not have their Breakfast in December and instead will be selling their sausage.
 
December 8th – There is a dispensation from Mass for those that are compromised and if you are young and healthy you can go to Mass.
 
Mass Schedule for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception: Vigil Mass on December 7th- Guardian Angel at 6:00 P.M. and December 8th at 8:00 A.M.
December 8th St. Ambrose at 6:00 P.M.  
 
Mass Schedule for Christmas – St. Ambrose-December 24th at 4:00 P.M. December 25th 8:00 A.M. and
Guardian Angel- December 24th at 6:00 P.M. and 11:00 P.M. and December 25th at 10:00 A. M.    
 
Mass Schedule for New Year’s – Guardian Angel - December 31 at 6:00 P.M. and January 1 at 8:00 A.M.
St. Ambrose – January 1, 2021 at 6:00 P.M.
 
Father advised that he will be putting out the 2021 missals the 1st Sunday of Advent, one per household and if three are more in the family two per household and asked that you please keep the missal with you and do not leave in the pews. 
 
Parish Mission will be December 13-15 at Guardian Angel Church beginning at 6:00 P.M. Father will offer Confessions.
 
There will be no Parish Council meeting in December.
 
The next meeting will be January 21, 2021.
 
The meeting closed with a prayer led by Father Kelly.
