Happenings at the Parish.

First Friday Adoration

Every First Friday of the month, St. Ambrose hosts Eucharistic Adoration from 8:30am (after mass) until 11:15am with Benediction. Please come join in prayer for our vocations to religious life.

Prayer Services

Every 2nd Thursday of the month, Mother of Perpetual Help Devotions and the Rosary are said at 6:00pm.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, Ultreya is held at 9:00am, where there is prayer time, witness talk, and sharing time.

Father Kelly is pastor here at St. Ambrose, as well as at Guardian Angel in Oran, MO (where he resides) and is available for contact at 573-262-3210.

​​Parish Council Meeting – March 18, 2021
 
                Members Present: Brenda Miller, Richard Graviett, Billie Jo Sadler, Darren Landewee, David Enderle, Diane Eftink, Father Kelly.
                The opening prayer was led by Father Kelly.
                Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes by Billie Jo Sadler, seconded by Brenda Miller. Motion Carried.
 
Committee Reports:
St. Ambrose School Report: The Budget was approved
Hiring a 7th & 8th Grade Teacher
Geri LeGrand will be the music teacher
Amanda McGuire who taught art is leaving and will need an art teacher
Need a Cook
 
                PSR – All is going well. The last day of PSR will be April 11th.  
                Youth – Will not start anything until this summer.
                Financial Report – The financial report was presented. Motion to approve the financial report by Richard Graviett, seconded by Darren Landwee. Motion Carried.
                Maintenance Report- Richard Graviett explained the problems with the pews and he is keeping them checked.
                Cemetery – Richard Graviett advised that Dale Tenkhoff is going to mow the cemetery.
                Social – Discussion was then heard on a parish picnic.
Liturgy/Worship:
                The Parish Mission will be Sunday, March 21, 2021, Monday, March 22, 2021 and Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
                1st Communion will be April 17, 2021 at the 4:00 Mass. Six students will be making their 1st Communion.
                Father Kelly advised that the Priests received a letter from Bishop Rice lifting the dispensation for attending Mass beginning with the Vigil Mass of Palm Sunday with some restrictions. Holy Water and Hymnals will be put back in the pews and can take up the collection with a long handle basket. Masks are recommended.
                Father advised that he is thinking about the boys serving Mass and the girls as sacristans to help set up for Mass.
New Business:
                Father Kelly passed around the new Parish Council Norms. The new norms primarily focus on engaging the following aspects:
  1. Growth and Holiness
  2. Forming Intentional Disciples
  3. Sent to Witness
                Father suggested about having the Parish Council meeting every other month. Discussion was then heard.
                The next meeting will be May 20th at 6:00 P.M.
                Father presented an estimate on the gutter guards for the Old Rectory in the amount of $548.00 with a $250.00 donation for a total of $298.00 from Watertight Seamless Guttering. All were in favor of this.
                The meeting was closed with a prayer led by Father Kelly.

Daughter's Meeting - March 18, 2021
 
            President, Linda Yarbro called the meeting to order and led the opening prayer.
            Minutes were reviewed and approved.  Thank you cards were read.
            Treasurer’s Report: Deposits from Bake Sale and Bereavement meal. Checks written for: support of Seminarian Daniel Dunn, Christmas gifts, Masses, Christmas baskets, 1st Communion bookmarks, and supplies. Ending balance $3,388.69 of which $2,191.50 is dumpling proceeds.
OLD BUSINESS
            Bereavement meal was provided for Charlie Westrich. Next bereavement is Circle 9.
            Prayer Shawls were given to: Alvin Vandeven, Richard VanGennip, Ann, Danny & Lauren Wagoner, Mildred & Joe Kirchdoerfer, Julie Eftink, Linda Welter, Alice Uhrhan and Ron Dirnberger.
            Dumplings: May try and make some this summer after school is dismissed.
            10/10 Club: Received good response from this, ahead of last year.
NEW BUSINESS
            DCCW Spring Assembly in Springfield. Mary Chapman and Diane Eftink will be attending. Daughters will reimburse them the cost of registration ($45.00 each). Glenda will take care of getting an item and purse for the auction. 
            Circles: Circle chairmen will get together and rework/update the circle list.
            Easter Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 8am in front of Whitakers Hardware. Ladies are asked to donate a Baked Item or $10.00. Baked items can be dropped off at the Chaffee Drive-In on Friday, April 2.
            Annual Church Cleaning: Linda will contact the Chaffee Baseball team about helping with this.
            Gifts: Rosaries will be purchased for those coming into Church this Easter. Bookmarks will be giving to children making their First Communion on April 17th.
            Senior Breakfast: Linda will contact Junior parents.
            Officers:  Daughter’s organization is in need of a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. If you are interested contact Linda.
            Discussed the possibility of having a Euchre tournament this fall.
FATHER’s REPORT
            Fr. Kelly announced that the Bishop is lifting the dispensation to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation beginning on Palm Sunday. He is also relaxing some of the Covid restrictions which include the reinstitution of the offertory collection, altar servers, music and other previously suspended liturgical practices.
            Parish Mission will be held March 21-23 at 6pm each evening with Exposition, Talk, Benediction, and Confessions. Extra Priest will be available on Monday & Tuesday for Confessions.
            40 Hours Eucharistic Adoration will be held at Guardian Angel April 23-25.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
            Next meeting will be September 16, 2021. Room count was 8.
            Meeting adjourned and Fr. Kelly led the closing prayer.
