Happenings at the Parish.

First Friday Adoration

Every First Friday of the month, St. Ambrose hosts Eucharistic Adoration from 8:30am (after mass) until 11:15am with Benediction. Please come join in prayer for our vocations to religious life.

Prayer Services

Every 2nd Thursday of the month, Mother of Perpetual Help Devotions and the Rosary are said at 6:00pm.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, Ultreya is held at 9:00am, where there is prayer time, witness talk, and sharing time.

Father Kelly is pastor here at St. Ambrose, as well as at Guardian Angel in Oran, MO (where he resides) and is available for contact at 573-262-3210.

Parish Council Minutes – January 20, 2022
            Members Present: Richard Graviett, Billie Jo Sadler, Katie Glueck, Kenny Dohogne, Donnie Reischman, Diane Eftink and Father Kelly.
            The meeting opened with a prayer led by Father Kelly.
            Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Motion to approve the minutes by Billie Jo Sadler, seconded by Donnie Reischman. Motion Carried.
School Report:
            St. Ambrose School has gained 11 new students since the last semester.
            Father talked about taking the 5th – 8th grade boys from St. Ambrose and Guardian Angel for a tour of the Seminary in St. Louis and taking the 5th – 8th grade girls from St. Ambrose and Guardian Angel for a tour of the Benedictine Sisters in Ava, Missouri.
Youth:
            The youth had a Christmas gathering in December and are hoping to meet once a month.
            There will be a youth conference on Saturday, April 02, 2022 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There is also the Steubenville Youth Conference coming up this summer in Springfield, Mo.
            Father said at the Priests Institute a presenter gave a talk and suggestions for vocations. She suggested having people in the parish on a vocation committee. Father will be talking to a few people about this.
            The Financial Report was then presented.  Motion to approve the financial report by Billie Jo Sadler, seconded by Richard Graviett. Motion Carried.
            Cemetery- Father talked about the drainage at the Cemetery. Jeff Mirly will mow the cemetery this summer.
            Social- The Men’s club breakfast was held in December and they will have another Breakfast on February 13th.  The Daughters Euchre Tournament scheduled for January 23rd has been canceled.  Catholic Man’s Night will be Wednesday, January 26th at 6:30 P.M. at St. Ambrose.
Liturgy & Worship:
            Father advised that Adoration, Benediction and Confession during Advent at St. Ambrose and Guardian Angel went very well.       
            Father Kelly has decided to do the Stations of the Cross at each Parish alternating between parishes each week.
Old Business: RICA is going very well.
            Katie Glueck asked about having a alumni basketball or volleyball game. Father will look into this.
            The next Parish Council meeting will be March 17th.
            The meeting was closed with a prayer led by Father Kelly.

Daughter’s Meeting
February 17, 2022
 
            President, Linda Yarbro called the meeting to order and we all recited the Hail Mary.
            Minutes were read & approved.
            Treasurer’s Report: Balance as of February 17 is $3932.84.
            Thank you cards were read.
            No prayer shawls were given out since last meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
            Discussed bereavement meals, planning and how-to’s. Circle lists have been redone and condensed down to 5 Circles.
            Daughter’s Christmas party was enjoyed by all who attended.
            Euchre Tournament that was scheduled for January 23 was cancelled. Euchre Tournaments are scheduled for February 20th and March 27th.
NEW BUSINESS
            Easter Bake Sale will be held Saturday, April 16th at 8am in front of Whitaker’s Hardware. Circle 4 is in charge.
            Annual Church Cleaning – Linda will check with Brian Horrell to see if the Baseball team is available to help (either Tuesday or Wednesday of Holy Week).
            First Communion is scheduled for April 30th.
            No date has been set for Confirmation yet. There will be a Morning of Reflection for the Confirmation candidates on Saturday, May 7th at St. Ambrose. More details at next meeting.
            For those who are coming into Church, the Mass will be at Guardian Angel, Oran.
            Gifts – It was decided to give a crucifix to those who are being Confirmed; a rosary to those who are coming into the Church at Easter; and book marks to the First Communicants.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
            Next meeting will be March 17th.  Room count was 8.
            Meeting adjourned and all recited the Memorae.
